Wedding & Cultural traditions

Wedding Traditions:
For American weddings there are traditions that most brides abide by. For instance the white wedding gown worn by most brides-to-be. Depending on the religious belief of the bride and groom the dress varies. In western culture following the middle ages suggested that depending on the brides wealth the dress would become more elaborate, elegant and  expensive fabrics to show off the money of the brides. It did not become apparent to wear white on a brides wedding day until Queen Victoria married Albert of Saxe-Coburg. From then on afterwards every bride had followed in the queen's footsteps. Many believed that the color white was to symbolize purity, but during that age it was in fact blue that had symbolized purity.
Another tradition we got is something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. It is to represent the past, and future. Blue is to represent the purity in the relationship.

Cultural Traditions: (Jamaican)
Jamaican weddings typically the wedding dress has a piece of the mothers wedding gown. After the event the wedding dress is to be tailored and made for her children's christening gowns by a local seamstress. As for the wedding cake; once the engagement is announced the groom's grandmother is to soak fruit in rum. To be used a week before the wedding as the wedding cake. Since Jamaican weddings it is traditional to have a fruit cake laced with rum. Another important aspect of a Jamaican wedding is that both bride and groom must participate in selecting the goat that will be eaten at the wedding. The choice it so entail good vibes for both the bride and groom. On the actual wedding day the bride is to be sung to by unmarried women to symbolize her departure from the unmarried group into marriage. It is tradition that the wedding is held at the village church. The guest after the ceremony are to drink "mannish water" (goat broth) before the meal. After the meal usually the guest show off their new dance styles and fashion trends. The married couple leave the reception at 1 in the morning but still continues into the morning.

Meet The Couple and Popping The Question

Jeff and Megan met their freshman year of high school in chemistry class. It was love at first sight, they have been together ever since. He was, at the time, working as a bus boy at the Cheesecake Factory in Redondo Beach and Megan was working as a waitress at Joe's Crab Shack. Megan's wedding party consists of: her sister (maid of honor), best friend from high school, two of her cousins, three college friends and Jeff's two sisters. Jeff's wedding party consists of: three of his best friends, two of his co-workers, his cousin and Megan's three brothers. His best man will be his best friend from kindergarten. Jeff and Megan went for a sunset walk on the beach. Megan noticed something shining far off in the sand. Jeff told her to go over and look at it. Megan pick up the bottle and saw there was a message in it, she opened it and it read "Will you marry me?". She turned around and Jeff was on one knee holding the ring. Megan said yes and they happily walked on.
